apologetics (noun) apol·o·get·ics ə-ˌpä-lə-ˈje-tiks plural in form but singular or plural in construction 1 : systematic argumentative discourse in defense (as of a doctrine) 2 : a branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity
In 2005 I attended Summit Ministries' Biblical Worldview Student Conference held in Manitou Springs, CO. I had just turned 16 years old and was the minimum age to attend. It was here I became enamored with communal deep thinking and apologetics. I had recently read C.S. Lewis's The Four Loves (1960) and The Problem of Pain (1940) and longed to find a way to communicate the relationship between love and loss, grief and gratitude, pain and pleasure. Jesus was the only one that could bring the opposites into a purposed relationship, and I wanted to provide evidence for my hope.
Almost 15 years would go by before the Mama Bear Apologetics series would come out, equipping me to create community through theological science and defense -- immersed within the gift of hospitality (that's where appetizers come in). Intentional gatherings and deeper discussions seem few and far between in a world riddled with self-focused social media and glass-fronted communication. But eternity is written in places within us that technology cannot reach; only reason. If you are new to sharing and living out the gospel through the lens of apologetics we want to encourage you in your beginnings and desire to start a local group. Below is our pairing method and ways to share and defend God's love in this way. Let us know how we can be pray for you as your adventure begins.
